An innovative scheme teaching primary teachers languages and how to teach those languages to pupils is being expanded across Scotland for the first time.

A  languages project for primary schools, and free online courses about law making in Scotland are shortlisted for the prestigious Herald Higher Education Awards.

The winner of the 2018 Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) Helen Dowie Award for Lifelong Learning is Lisa McGuinness from HMRC.  The award is sponsored by The Open University in Scotland and will be presented by the Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland.

The rarely-heard music of a fugitive 16th century Scottish priest will be performed at a special concert in Glasgow, based on research by Dr Elaine Moohan of The Open University.
