The OU in Scotland is delighted to be supporting and participating in DataFest18, a festival of data innovation run by The Data Lab.

Now in its second year, DataFest will showcase Scotland’s leading role in data on the international stage, while offering an unprecedented networking platform where delegates can interact with local and international talent, industry, academia and data enthusiasts.

At events in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Open University staff will be sharing information about our study opportunities, ways we can help employers to upskill their workforce, and the potential for collaborating on academic research projects.

#DataTalent18 - 20 March 2018, Crowne Plaza, Glasgow

Now in its third year, Data Talent Scotland is Scotland’s largest data talent showcase, bringing together data science and engineering students with companies from across the country.

Scotland’s leading data professionals in industry will also have the chance to meet and interact with Scotland’s leading academics and researchers to forge new partnerships and collaborations.

At The OU's stand, there will be the opportunity to find out about our Graduate Apprenticeships in software and cyber security and our Continuing Professional Development courses - both existing courses, and bespoke offerings we can create with employers for their staff. Delegates can also meet OU academics.

Activities throughout the day will include speakers demonstrating their innovative data science projects, skills workshops, a panel discussion, and plenty of networking time.

#DataSummit18 – 22 & 23 March 2018, The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh

A two-day international conference presenting compelling stories on Data Innovation with keynotes, panels, pitches and lots of inspiration, the Data Summit has been created to bring together data leaders and practitioners across industry, the public sector and academia.

At The OU stand, attendees can meet academics - whose work includes Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning applied to software customisation for different purposes - and discuss how we may be able to collaborate with organisations on data science research projects.

Dr Simona Foscarin, Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Manager at The Open University, who will be attending each of the three days, said:

“The OU has tremendous research and teaching expertise in data, AI, machine learning, software development, cyber security and more, and we’re excited to be able to bring some of those expertise to DataFest 2018.

"We have a lot to offer to organisations and individuals looking to develop their knowledge and skills in these areas and we look forward to meeting like-minded partners.”
