Almost 500 Open University graduates at Glasgow ceremonies, and honorary awards made to figures in culture and education.

The OU in Scotland, in partnership with Dundee and Angus College, has enrolled its first cohort of students under an innovative new collaboration called OU Choices.  

“I didn’t realise I had written a crime novel until my publisher informed me, just before publication. I thought I had written a romp, albeit one with a significant number of murders.” Olga Wojtas, a former Open University creative writing student, will be one of four authors discussing their debut novels at a Bloody Scotland event this week.

The Open University is delighted to be supporting the Crime In The Spotlight series at Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival, taking place in Stirling from 21- 23 September 2018. You can apply for free tickets to one of these events. 

A team of astronomers from The OU and other academic institutions are launching an international citizen science project, to work out what over 30 million unique objects discovered in space actually are.

The Open University has been unveiled as the main supporter of ACOSVO's (the Association of Chief Officers of Scottish Voluntary Organisations) annual conference for third sector leaders. 

The First Minister of Scotland, The Right Hon, Nicola Sturgeon MSP, interviewed Booker Prize-shortlisted author and playwright Ali Smith at the Edinburgh International Book Festival 2018, as one of a series of events supported by The Open University at the festival. 

Fully funded places are on offer to prospective learners resident in Scotland for a wide range of Open University postgraduate modules. Apply by 7 September for modules starting in November 2018.
