One of the ways we work with organisations in Wales is to train their staff to share free learning with the people they work with – as well as support them into OU study.
OpenLearn Champions is an advocacy programme that we offer to partner organisations. It’s there to help break down barriers to learning by helping people get free, informal learning. We‘ll give you training to show you how to support people to get the best out of OpenLearn – our free, online learning platform, offering over 1,000 different resources like short courses, articles, interactive games and videos.
If you’re passionate about lifelong learning, this can be a great way to help people:
We deliver OpenLearn Champions training all over Wales across sectors, including colleges, charities, trade unions, housing providers and the skills sector.
Kailee Carella from Cardiff Third Sector Council said:
Openlearn helps people, whether they're volunteering or just looking to continue their education, because it allows them to try out different things and to fit learning in alongside their own schedules and their own priorities.
OpenLearn Champions training for FE colleges is open to all staff who work with students. The workshops will show free online learning resources and courses to support their role and their own continual professional development.
It will also include a demonstration and overview of the National Enrichment Programme – a programme we’ve developed with Welsh colleges to help students develop skills and confidence.
Here are the OpenLearn Champion events for FE colleges in 2025-26.
You can keep your space through the links below. There’s no need to attend the workshop more than once.
