Students across Wales have ranked The Open University in Wales as the top university in Wales for overall student satisfaction.
The 2026 National Student Survey (NSS) results published today (8 July) give The Open University (OU) in Wales an overall satisfaction score of 88.5%.
'Open University students come from all walks of life,' said Ceri Wilcock, Deputy Director for Student Experience at the OU in Wales. 'Some are retired, some are balancing work and family life, and others are entering higher education for this first time. Because of this, it’s essential that we invest in a wide variety of support for all of them.
'Our specialist student support team, based in our Wales office, are trained to give our learners the information, advice and guidance they need. This means helping them understand student finance, choose study paths which align to their goals, and develop the academic skills to succeed.
'Today’s result also reflects that hard work of our academic teams, who are continually developing course content alongside a rapidly changing world. They’ve shaped the curriculum to reflect what employers need from graduates and are always on hand to help each student during their studies.'
The NSS is an annual survey of almost half a million final-year undergraduates studying for higher education qualifications at publicly funded higher education institutions (HEIs) and further education colleges (FECs) in England and Wales, and HEIs in Northern Ireland and Scotland. The survey consists of questions that relate to aspects of the student experience – teaching, learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources, learning community and student voice.
