During a four-day eco-sabbatical in July 2022 at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT), Machynlleth, The Open University listened, collaborated, and co-created opportunities for integrating regenerative and carbon-positive skills into key sectors. We held ‘The Skills for Net Zero’ roundtable to understand the role of Higher Education in supporting the Skills for Net Zero agenda in Wales, and the needs of the private sector in this area. The Open University’s Net Zero Wales and Regenerative Futures Event summary video
The EAUC (Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges) conference, held in Winchester from 24-25 July 2024, brought together more than 230 attendees, including 81 presenters and 20 exhibitors, under the theme "Accelerating Ambition and Impact." The conference celebrated its 20th anniversary and this year there was a distinct sense that action had to be taken. The opening remarks by Laurence Frewin, Principal and CEO of South Devon College, and Gavin Hunter, Chief Operating Officer of the University of Winchester, set an optimistic tone.
Responsible Futures is a whole institution accreditation programme with the aim to embed sustainability across all aspects of student learning. Responsible Futures has been created by the charity Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK), this is a unique accreditation being student led and audited by students.
