Praxis is a growing community of scholars in WELS undertaking projects characterised by the principles and practices of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Praxis Scholarship Hubs exist to support colleagues with common scholarship interests to come together and explore ideas, generating and developing scholarship projects that emerge from these discussions.
Scholarship Hubs might emerge from informal conversations between colleagues, as a result of connections made through other Praxis activities or in response to a particular scholarship need identified within the faculty. As such, whilst a Hub might be ‘commissioned’ by Praxis, it might equally be established ‘from the ground up’ by a group of colleagues interested in a particular scholarship theme or idea and who submit a Hub proposal to Praxis. A named contact acts as a liaison between Praxis and the members of the Scholarship Hub.
Membership to a Hub is open and inclusive so please review our current Hubs below and sign up if you would like to join.

As higher education institutions have learnt the value of social media, its use has expanded beyond marketing and promotion, towards community building and development. The opportunities provided by social media can come with considerable benefits. However, engaging online, outside of university-moderated spaces, also comes with significant risks. The Social Media Scholarship Hub will explore the ways in which social media can be used to support and enhance the higher education offering at the OU whilst addressing both ethical and safety risks.

The use of immersive technologies in learning and teaching is becoming more prevalent across all three schools in WELS. These activities explore how extended realities can merge the physical world with a digital or simulated reality. The Immersive Technologies Scholarship Hub provides a collaborative space to connect this emerging field of practice with the core principles of the University’s Teaching and Learning Plan. Hub members will explore the ways in which immersive technologies can support learning and teaching innovation.
