Tour of Britain cycling race comes to Milton Keynes – and right past our campus! Information on Road Closures

Please note on Thursday 04 September 2025 Milton Keynes will be hosting a stage of Britain’s biggest professional cycle race.

Stage three of the race will get underway from Milton Keynes’ Midsummer Boulevard at 11:30, crossing Campbell Park before heading south on grid roads, leaving the H7 Chaffron Way for a long stretch on the V10 Brickhill Street, passing the Open University campus and the Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula One technology campus before racing to Woburn Sands and on into Central Bedfordshire.

Rolling Road Closures

  • To support the safe running of the event, the race uses what’s known as ‘rolling road closures’ where roads close for a short amount of time (30-40 minutes) minimising any dangers to athletes, officials, spectators, and local people.
  • V10 Brickhill Street will close before the riders arrive and reopen once they have safely passed.
  • The road closure document indicates V10 Brickhill Street will be closed from approx. 11:24 until 11:54 and provides further information on how rolling road closures work.

What if I need to leave Campus when the cyclists are passing?

  • Please note the H9 Groveway bridge closure has also commenced restricting access / exit via the H9.
  • On the day, colleagues are welcome to park in East Campus car park and use the underpass to / from Walton Hall Campus. Entry / Exit is then via Timbold Drive onto Standing Way.
  • Red routes and pathways will remain accessible.
