⚠️🛴🌳E-bike and E-scooter Battery Safety and Risk Information 🛵🛴❓

The Open University is fully aware of the dangers associated with the storage of e-bikes and e-scooters. We will keep our procedures and precautions in place thereby reducing and preventing the dangers and risk of harm to the staff, students and public.

  • E-scooters are banned from being used on site. The commercial operator geo-fence has been set up around the perimeter of campus to prevent any E-scooters from being ridden on campus.
  • E-bike batteries must be stored and re-charged within designated charging lockers which are situated away from any buildings. They cannot be charged inside buildings.

We have provided links to articles below from different sources if you are interested in reading more about E-bike and E-scooter batteries, what is causing the risks and the safety initiatives which are being recommended to reduce these.
