We are very pleased to announce that the Centre for Police Research and Learning has been shortlisted by the Open University’s Research Excellence Awards 2022 in the category of Best External Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange Award.
This award recognises and celebrates external engagement and the development of lasting successful academic and non-academic collaborations in research and knowledge exchange. The nominations are evaluated against two criteria: the degree to which the collaboration has made an exceptional contribution to the advancement of the field and enhanced the research and/or organizational capabilities of the collaborator(s)/partners, as well as the extent to which the knowledge exchange has made an outstanding contribution outside of academia in a local, national or global context.
In addition, we are also pleased to announce that Professor Harith Alani and Dr Mathijs Lucassen, who both work as part of the Centre, have also been shortlisted for awards in different categories – Harith for research carried out in response to the Covid-19 pandemic that has had or continues to have positive impacts, and, Mathijs as part of a wider team for outstanding impact of research on OU teaching, curriculum or students. Furthermore, although not shortlisted, the judging panel also acknowledged the high quality of the submission for the Best Support team that was submitted by our very own Policing Operations Team, led by Heather Barrett.
The final awards ceremony is to be held on the 22nd September in London.
