Dr Clare Rawdin joins the Centre

"I joined CPRL in October as a research assistant. I am excited to be working with Emma, Richard and Patrick on the co-review, co-design and piloting of learning materials related to SSAIDP course.

My career began in the late 90s as a social sciences teacher in adult and further education. In 2012 I started my doctoral studies at the University of Birmingham. My PhD investigated, critically and qualitatively, well-being initiatives in English schools, with a particular emphasis on Social and Emotional Learning (or SEL).

Following my PhD I decided to make the switch from teaching to research. Since then I have worked on a number of projects at different universities (including Warwick, Loughborough, Birmingham) which reflect my interests in both well-being and/or qualitative research.

Away from work I enjoy simple pleasures, particularly being out and about in the beautiful county of Derbyshire which is where I live. The thing I like most of all is walking in the Peak District. I also enjoy being in my garden (though now seem to spend a disproportionate amount of time in garden centres and particularly the coffee shops within garden centres!) I look forward to working with partner forces and academics and getting to know you all better."
