Flexible and supportive routes into teaching.  Study the part-time or salaried PGCE at The Open University in Wales.

You can help shape the future for children in Wales by becoming a teacher. The Open University in Wales' supportive PGCE programme prepares teachers to work in inclusive ways with a strong focus on curriculum for Wales, equity and diversity.

As teachers, we don’t just educate; we inspire through the stories we share and the identities we bring to the classroom. Representation matters because it broadens horizons - not just for students, but for whole communities. At the OU in Wales, we’re deeply committed to fostering diversity and equity in education. We believe that your voice, your lived experiences, and your unique perspective are invaluable and will help shape a more inclusive and representative future for teaching.

Join us on 8 April for an online open evening as we explain how our innovative PGCE programme can support you to begin a diverse and rewarding career in teaching.

In the online event, our expert PGCE team will explain more about our unique salaried and part-time PGCE routes which are designed to allow you to study around your life and earn while you learn. Both routes enable you to balance study with your existing commitments such as parenting, caring and working. You’ll also hear from one of our current student teachers as they talk about their experience, plus you'll have the chance to ask questions.
