Message from the OU Library:
"Have your say on the design of a new PGR Common Room space!
The Library, together with the Graduate School and a group of PGR student representatives, is currently researching the needs of the PGR community in relation to Common Room space on campus, and we would appreciate you taking the time to complete the following survey.
Hi All,
I am new here. I am thinking of doing the above course, do any of you know anyone or have/done this course? Would be great to get different opinions.

Dear students,
As you may know the University College Union has planned industrial action from Monday 25 November until Wednesday 4 December. Information about the strike is available here: https://openuniv.sharepoint.com/sites/oulife/Pages/Reminder-of-Industrial-Action.aspx
A message from Patricia Ferguson, FASS PGRS to all research students:
"I run a London-based writing group for OU PGRS at the University of London's Senate House.
Hi All,
This is a new thread to collate any additional funding opportunities the community are aware of. If you spot something, add it in a reply to this message. To kick us off, this is from our FAQs:
"The prospectus holds a page listing additional funding opportunities.
Library Services are starting Shut Up and Write sessions for postgraduate researchers (PGRs) on campus in Milton Keynes*. Sessions involve meeting with other PGRs in the Library building, writing for 25 minutes at a time then taking a 5 minute break. The idea is to make academic writing more productive and social.

"Please read the key issues arising from the December 2018 workshop on the Graduate School report. The following text is extracted from the introduction.
Dear All,
The University, working in collaboration with the product designers, is currently in the final stages of testing the Doctoral Online Research Information System (DORIS), the PGR student information management system. Rather than go live on the date we had anticipated and risk glitches in the system, robust testing and refinements are being undertaken. We will keep you informed on progress and launch date. Please note that the March progress reports will NOT be undertaken in DORIS.
Thanks,
Emily
There's an opportunity to participate in a University Challenge style event in January!
OU Students Association were supposed to be having a warm-up event for their University Challenge team on 11 January against Cranfield University. However Cranfield have pulled out due to not being able to put together a team. Are any of our PGR students interested in making up a team to go head-to-head with our University Challenge team? Please get in touch with Amy Ferguson if so.
