Francine Ryan, Senior Lecturer in Law and Co-Director of the Open Justice Centre, has been nominated for a prestigious Law Teacher of the Year Award. Sponsored by Oxford University Press (OUP), the Award is designed to recognise exceptional teachers in the legal field and Francine is one of six shortlisted.
She teaches the ‘W360: Justice in Action’ module, which allows students to collaborate on pro bono projects including working with schools, prisons or the OU’s online law clinic, and said: “My approach to teaching is to be inclusive and creative because there is no such thing as a typical OU student.”
Francine is to be assessed on campus which will involve an interview, an observed teaching session and Law School colleagues being interviewed. The winner will be announced at the OUP Annual Celebrating Excellence in Law Teaching (CELT) Conference which begins on 22 June. ( 03/04/2020 this has been postponed due to the covid-19 outbreak)
