Step back in time: OU Archive’s Heritage Open Day 2026

Join us on Wednesday 16 September 2026 as The Open University Archive takes part in Heritage Open Days, the UK’s largest celebration of history and culture.

Discover the OU’s story through campus tours, exhibitions, special displays and archive film screenings – with plenty to explore throughout the day.

Back by popular demand, our in-person campus tours will showcase the history of the Walton Hall estate, including visits to St Michael’s Church and the Legacy Garden.

Step into the OU Archive Cinema for themed screenings of historical footage, with highlights including OU historical events, Milton Keynes in OU programmes and OU teaching. Walk-ins are welcome.

You can also delve into our exhibitions and displays, including a special display honouring Baroness Betty Boothroyd, former OU Chancellor, alongside fresh selections from the University Archive.
