It’s no surprise that transport is a major polluter – contributing heavily to CO2 emissions and air pollution levels, many are now opting for cheaper and more sustainable ways of getting about. On Travel Thursday, we’re encouraging everyone who can, to ditch the car the day!
Whether its walking, cycling, bus, train or even car sharing, we want you to make your way to work via a more sustainable method on Thursday 17 October. Those who participate will get a £2.50 coffee voucher to spend at the Hub (or an alternative if you are based outside of MK).
If you have walked, cycled, caught the bus or train or car shared into work on 17th October 2019 come and register in the gazebo on the Mulberry Lawn from 7am until 10am and pick up your free drink voucher (Nation/SRCS colleagues will receive a voucher to the value of £2.50 after the event once final figures are received).
If you are not based at Walton Hall please register on arrival with your nominated contact:-
There will also be a Transport showcase on Thursday 17 October at lunchtime in Juniper and Medlar, all about what we already do at the OU to encourage sustainable forms of transport and what innovations are being made in the transport industry. If you can’t make it to the showcase, we’ve put together some interesting bits for you to browse:
Check back in October for more resources, including information on sustainable transport at the OU. http://intranet6.open.ac.uk/estates/main/go-green/sustainability-week-2019
