We are committed to creating curriculum materials that reflect and support the diversity of our student community. To help achieve this, our module teams use the Inclusive Curriculum Tool (ICT) when developing and reviewing module content, learning activities, and case studies.
The ICT provides a structured approach to considering inclusivity throughout the curriculum design process. While its use helps guide the development of more inclusive and accessible learning materials, it does not guarantee that all content will be fully inclusive or accessible for every student.
We recognise that creating an inclusive curriculum is an ongoing process. We continually review and improve our materials and actively welcome feedback from students to help inform the design, development, and presentation of curriculum content.
To date, the Inclusive Curriculum Tool has been used internally within The Open University. We are currently preparing a revised version of the tool for wider sector use. Subject to final review and approval, we aim to make this version available in in early 2027.
