1.46 Review of evidence on indicators associated with violence and its underlying causes

Academic team: Shona Morrison (CPRL, OU)
Policing partners: N/A
Status: In progress

The study is being undertaken in 2 parts, both involving different forms of literature review.

Project 1 involves a systematic review to identify indicators of violence perpetuated by children aged 10 to 17 years. UK-only literature is sought with additional analysis of different types of violence, gender and/or ethnicity where the data allows. Metanalysis will be undertaken to identify strength of association.

Project 2 seeks further clarity of causal factors of violence via exploration of evidence for the mechanisms linking indicators with outcomes (violence). Project 2 involves a narrative review or realist review (yet to be confirmed).
