Dr Emma Williams has been appointed to be the new Academic Director of the Centre for Policing Research and Learning (CPRL).

As part of the Memorial Lecture on 15 June, we had The Steven Chase Award which is for a CPRL project which best illustrates “research into practice and practice into research” and which is based on collaboration between an academic and a police organisation. 

On Thursday 15 June CPRL held an in-person Engagement Day with our partner forces at The Open University. This included a lecture presented by Martin Hewitt QPM, with discussants Andy Cooke (His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services) and Andy Marsh (Chief Constable and Chief Executive of the College of Policing).

Ben will start his new post by scoping out and setting up research opportunities as part of the Centre's proposed commission to improve the legitimacy and trustworthiness of policing in the UK.

Emma Bildson joined the Centre on a 3-month secondment to work on a research project. Find out about her experience and the research project she worked on.
