The Open University in Scotland Welcome Events

The Open University in Scotland is excited to host welcome events for students starting their OU journey in October 2024. ‘OU in Scotland Welcome’ is a new, proactive initiative, to support student induction through a series of online events.

Whether you’ve been in education recently or are returning to study after a long time, we know that starting your studies can be both scary and exciting, so we want to give you as much support as possible. The events aim to:

• Welcome and foster a sense of belonging for Scottish students.  
• Reassure and highlight support available to Scottish students. 
• Help new Scottish students understand what OU study involves.  

The events are open to all new OU in Scotland undergraduate students on Level 1 modules. There will be 10 events taking place throughout September and October:

• Tuesday 3rd September, 12:00 – 13:00
• Wednesday 4th September 16:00 – 17:00
• Monday 9th September, 14:00 – 15:00
• Friday 13th September, 09:30 – 10:30
• Wednesday 18th September, 19:00 – 20:00
• Thursday 19th September, 15:30 – 16:30
• Monday 23rd September, 09:30 – 10:30
• Thursday 26th September, 12:00 – 13:00
• Tuesday 1st October, 19:00 – 20:00
• Thursday 10th October. 16:00 – 17:00

Participating students will be able to chat to each other, as well as staff from across the OU in Scotland. They will also be introduced to opportunities to get involved in the Scotland student community.
