eSTEeM was well represented at the Advance HE EDI Conference on the 25th and 26th March held in Manchester.

The theme of the conference was Embedding EDI in Higher Education: Tradition Retold, Borrowed Insights, and Bold Innovations.

The conference started with a thought-provoking keynote talk from Professor Donna Whitehead, Vice-Chancellor, University of Brighton. In the keynote, Donna shared her reflections on the leadership paradoxes that exist, how they might become more complex as we move forward, and how she navigates these to ensure that she continues to leverage her leadership to drive equity in HE.

Chris Hutton and Fiona Aiken presented a talk titled Evaluation of offline adjustments and improving accessibility for distance learning science students.’ Jennie Bellamy and Louise MacBrayne presented a talk titled ‘Closing the awarding gap – listening to our black science students’. Both talks were well received with full rooms of attendees, and generated interesting questions from delegates.
