Overview

In this session, we will give an introduction to the research methods most commonly used in scholarship of teaching and learning with a particular focus on the use of surveys. In this interactive session, you will think about the relation between research questions and survey design as well as considering some of the practicalities of running surveys.

Learning objectives

After attending the session, participants will gain an understanding of:

• The role of quantitative and qualitative data in the scholarship of teaching and learning
• How to approach survey design
• The practicalities of running a survey
