October brings two important opportunities to learn, reflect and share: Black History Month and Menopause Awareness Month.
To mark both, we’ve put together some Library resources to help you explore the subjects in more depth - whether you’re looking for something to read, listen to, learn from, or share with someone else.

Black History Month
Black History Month is a celebration of the history, achievements and contributions of Black people, and an opportunity to learn more about Black history and experiences.
Our Black History Month resource list brings together books and other Library resources recommended by the OU’s BME Staff Network and other staff networks. There’s a wide range of material to explore, so you can dip in and find something that interests you.
You can also browse our Black History collection on Libby, where OU staff and students can borrow a selection of eBooks, audiobooks and magazines. There’s plenty of formats to discover, including memoirs, graphic novels, fiction and audiobooks.
Menopause Awareness Month
Menopause affects many people, but it’s still often stigmatised, under-researched and misunderstood.
Working with the OU Menopause Support Group, the Library has brought together a curated collection of resources to help people learn more about menopause. The collection includes books, podcasts and more, with resources for people experiencing menopause, those supporting them, and anyone interested in understanding the topic.
You’ll also find plenty of menopause-related reading on Libby, including magazines, nutrition and natural approach guides, eBooks and audiobooks.
