South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) takes place throughout July, celebrating the histories, cultures and communities of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
To mark the month, the Library has brought together a range of resources to help you discover the richness and diversity of South Asian voices, experiences and perspectives.

Explore our curated reading list
In collaboration with the OU BME Staff Network, we've created a curated resource list featuring works by authors from South Asia and people of South Asian heritage. The collection spans fiction and non-fiction, offering insights into history, identity, culture, politics, family, migration and contemporary life.
The list also highlights recommended authors whose works will be added to the Library collection in the coming months, helping us continue to diversify our collections and celebrate a wider range of voices.
