Peer review and journals

Journals are a great way to do research and stay up to date in your subject. They contain articles that give you insight into specific topics.

Some journals have peer review status. This is a mark of quality. It means the articles they publish that also report original research, have been checked for quality by academics. But not everything inside a peer-reviewed journal is peer-reviewed, e.g. letters, editorials, book review, etc. Want to know more about peer review, how to spot it and why it matters to you? Then take a look at Understanding Peer Review.
