CPRL wins prestigious research award

We are delighted to announce that we won the research award for “best external collaboration and knowledge exchange” in the Open University’s biennial research excellence awards ceremony in London on 22 September, which celebrated the wide range of high-quality research being undertaken across the University. 

We had a wonderful evening, catching up with colleagues across the OU. We greatly enjoyed the meal and company, though waiting for our category to be announced kept us on tenterhooks.  

Then CPRL was called onto the stage for “best external collaboration and knowledge exchange” based on our research programme involving 24 police partner organizations across the four nations. The Centre has a large network of academics working in a collaborative, cross faculty manner and working with the police to undertake high-quality research in a wide range of disciplines for university, police and societal benefits. This award is a tribute to all those academics, police officers and staff, and OU support staff who are involved in designing, steering, challenging, shaping, driving, arranging and using CPRL research.

Nicky Miller, Paul Walley and Jean Hartley from FBL collected the prize along with Nick Caveney and Phil Davies for the police, Camilla Elphick of FASS and Harith Alani of STEM. It was a wonderful moment.
