In this session we have the pleasure of speaking to Dr Jude Towers, Doctor of Applied Social Statistics and Senior Lecturer in Policing Studies. Dr Towers’ research has explored the causes of violence and how we can best measure violence, falling mainly into the emerging field of ‘violence and society'. Integral to her research is the identification of new sources of data and the development of mechanisms to capture both new and old forms of violence.
We will discuss some of Dr Towers’ most important and impactful work, exploring the motivations underpinning her research and what she has sought to achieve through it. The session is open to all, but intended primarily for the benefit of Open University students studying DD215 Social Research: Crime, Justice and Society, as well as students studying qualifications that sit within the School of Social Sciences and Global Sciences more broadly.
