Steve Edwards

Professor Steve Edwards is Head of Department of Art History at the Open University. His research interests include: history of photography, contemporary art and Marxist and socialist thought. He has published extensively on capitalism and documentary forms. His recent books include: The Making of English Photography, Allegories (2006) and Martha Rosler, The Bowery in two inadequate descriptive systems (2012). He serves on the editorial boards of the journals Oxford Art Journal and Historical Materialism: Research in Critical Marxist Theory. Professor Edwards is also an editor of the Historical Materialism book series(Brill/Haymarket) and an organiser of the London-based research seminar 'Marxism in Culture'.
