Library Search AI

Hello,

We need your help to test some new functionality on Library Search. The Research Assistant is a tool to help with research powered by AI. When asked a question, it provides an answer and suggests further resources to assist you. All we are asking you to do is use the Research Assistant, asking it about topics that you are interested in and knowledgeable about, and giving us your feedback.

We'd like to check the accuracy of the information it provides and the relevance and availability of the resources it suggests. We would be very grateful if you could help us with this. This tool doesn't get its information from the open internet, only from Library resources.

We have enabled the Research Assistant in our acceptance view, and you can find it in the top menu.Screenshot of the Library home page. Next to the Open University logo in the header is a highlighted box called 'Research Assistant (Beta)'

You can only see this by accessing the acceptance view of Primo VE.

Please do not use the normal version of Library Search as you will not be able to see the Research Assistant button.

To gather your thoughts and experiences when you use the Research Assistant, we have put together a short form. You can use the Research Assistant as many or as few times as you like, whenever you have a few minutes spare, but please do fill in the form each time you use the Assistant. The deadline to complete this is 31st January, 2025. All feedback collected will be anonymous, although if you have any questions do get in touch with us at [email protected].

Thank you in advance – your participation is invaluable.
