SPS members showcase their lunar research at the 6th European Lunar Symposium, Toulouse, France

12 members of SPS attended the 6th European Lunar Symposium in Toulouse from 13-16 May (https://els2018.arc.nasa.gov/). This annual international meeting was organised by a pan-European consortium of lunar scientists under the umbrella of NASA’s Solar System Exploration Virtual Institute (SSERVI) – co-chaired by Mahesh Anand. The meeting was attended by over 120 participants from around the world and covered a range of lunar topics in traditional areas (lunar samples, remote sensing, modelling, instrumentation) as well as in emerging topics (in-situ resource utilisation (ISRU), lunar habitation). There was also a significant presence from industry and space agencies (e.g. NASA, ESA, JAXA), reflecting the recent global surge of interest and activity in lunar science and exploration. The SPS members gave 6 talks and presented 7 posters about their lunar work – the largest contribution from any single entity. Next year’s meeting will be in Manchester from 21 to 23 May, where SPS will look to put in a similarly strong showing, so please reserve the date…
