Next we head to the powerful Skógafoss, one of Iceland’s largest and most impressive waterfalls. Today we discover the highlights of Iceland’s famous Golden Circle, beginning at the majestic Gullfoss, where powerful glacial waters plunge into a dramatic canyon. We make a stop at the geothermal area of Geysir, home to bubbling hot springs and the reliably erupting Strokkur geyser, which sends jets of boiling water high into the air every few minutes. We then visit Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart and Iceland’s historic parliament was founded. You will also have the Lava Bread tour at Fontana, where you will get to try bread which has baked in the heat of a geysir. It is some of the most delicious bread you will eat anywhere! From here, we return to Reykjavík for our final evening (check back into Hótel Reykjavík Centrum for 1 night).
