Taxing Times: Informal Enterprise and Religious Conflict in Northern Nigeria

Dr Kate Meagher will examine the extent to which informal enterprise networks and associations, often based on religion or ethnicity, have exacerbated or mitigated religious conflict in the region during the period of the recent Boko Haram terrorist attacks.

Dr Ben Page will argue that Chadwick’s legacy in the origins of community development has been underplayed, and that his experiments as a British colonial district officer in Udi created a template of considerable significance in development practice.
