The School of Environment, Earth and Ecosystems Sciences is inviting applications for PhD studentships funded by the Central England NERC Training Alliance (CENTA) Doctoral Landscape Award. CENTA is a consortium of research-intensive Universities and research institutes that are working together to provide excellence in doctoral research training in Earth and Environmental Sciences. We are funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) through the UKRI’s Collective Talent Funding.
The available projects for the October 2027 intake are:
- Reconstructing mid-latitude Climate and ecosystem variability across the Plio-Pleistocene (Advert ref: CENTA-01-27J)
- Chasing ice sheets: Reconstructing the glacial history of northwest Europe during the Plio-Pleistocene with the IODP3 Expedition 507 Science Team (Advert ref: CENTA-02-27J)

- Cryo-mineral dynamics within ice-bound brines on Earth and icy moons (Advert ref: CENTA-06-27J)
- Exploring how the values of environmental scientists influence research and impact at different career stages (Advert ref: CENTA-07-27J)
- Exploring the limits of habitability from Antarctic brines to icy worlds (Advert ref: CENTA-08-27J)
