1st International Workshop on Responsible Software Engineering

Dates
Thursday, June 26, 2025 - 12:00 to Friday, June 27, 2025 - 12:00

Responsible software engineering has become increasingly important and will play a critical role in addressing emerging societal challenges where software technologies are implicated. This workshop aims to delve into the accountability in software development and products, highlighting research topics in Responsible Software Engineering. It provides a platform for practitioners to discuss responsibility across development phases and offers researchers a venue to explore future studies.

The workshop will feature a keynote talk by Professor Arosha Bandara, who leads the Future of Responsible Technology workstream for the Open University’s Centre for Protecting Women Online. His talk, “First, do no harm – realising the potential of transdisciplinary research for Responsible Software Engineering”, explores how responsible software engineering can benefit from transdisciplinary approaches that include software practitioners and end-users as integral members of the research activity to develop a richer understanding of the problem domain. He will illustrate how transdisciplinary research can be used to develop new approaches to responsible software engineering that can help make online spaces safer for women and girls.

The workshop is co-located with the ACM International Conference on the Foundations of Software Engineering (FSE), taking place in Trondheim, Norway. We welcome anyone interested in exploring this important topic to attend the workshop to contribute to the discussions!
