Art into Writing: contemporary poetry inspired by art
Convened by Heather Richardson
Poets have long been inspired to write about their responses to works of art in other media, a tradition known as ekphrasis. Within a contemporary context, how are poets reinvigorating the ekphrastic tradition? This session will consider the interplay between poetry and visual art. Poets Siobhan Campbell (Heat Signature, Seren, 2017) and Jane Yeh (The Ninjas, Carcanet, 2012) will be joined by Dr Adam Hanna (University College Cork) to offer their insights into the creative synergies between writers and the art that inspires them. Their presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.
The seminar is planned to take place in the wonderful surroundings of the Lavery gallery at the Ulster Museum.
